Chris Jericho has no immediate plans to leave the ring.
Jericho was recently asked on McGuire on Wrestling if he had thought about his own retirement, in light of John Cena’s announcement of a retirement tour. Jericho said he is having a great time in AEW, and he believes he can contribute at a high-level. Jericho knows when it’s time for him to retire. As long as he is enjoying himself and feels great inside and outside the ring, he does not see any reason to stop.
“I’ll be able to tell when it’s the right time, you see?” Jericho said, “I’m enjoying what I do and I still contribute at a high-level.” “I can still put on the best match in the show at any given time — not every single night, but any particular night. I love what we are doing with AEW at the moment. There’s no hurry. When I know, I will know. That’s the best way I can put it. For now, I am having too much of a good time and really enjoying the building of AEW. We’ve come so far in just five years and still have so much more to do on the highest levels. We’ll see. As of now, I don’t see any reason to stop as long as I am having fun, enjoying myself, and feeling good both in and out of the ring.
Cena surprised fans by making a surprise appearance last weekend at WWE Money in the Bank and announced that 2025 would be his final year of competition in the ring. His retirement tour will run from January to December 2025. The number of dates that he plans to work is “between mid-30s and 40s.”
Jericho told McGuire on Wrestling he liked the way Cena, his former in-ring competitor, is approaching his retirement.
