NXT announced the date of their next television special.
During the Heatwave event on Sunday, it was announced the Great American Bash will take place in the NXT edition for August 6. The event will also air on SYFY instead of the USA Network.
The NXT brand will host the Great American Bash for the fifth consecutive year. Most of the shows have been broadcast on television. However, last year’s premium live event was streamed by Peacock.
Carmelo Hayes defeated Ilja Dragunov in the main event of last year’s show at Cedar Park, Texas to retain the NXT Championship. Tiffany Stratton defeated Thea Hail in a match to retain the NXT Women’s Championship. Dominik Mysterio retained the North American title by defeating Wes Lee, Mustafa Ali and Wes Lee.
The Great American Bash is a name that dates back to the 1980s. It was created by Dusty Rhodes for the NWA, and later WCW. The name was also used by WWE as a pay-per view name in the mid 2000s, after WWE acquired WCW.
