WWE SummerSlam is “probable”. CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre.
Punk has been sidelined since January due to a torn right triceps he sustained in the men’s Royal Rumble. He hasn’t yet been cleared to return to ring, but WWE is more confident he will be ready for the big event this summer in Cleveland.
“I was told that they are pretty confident about it, but you can’t say 100% because it’s not 100 percent. It was a hope but now it is more than that. Drew McIntyre, Punk and SummerSlam are a plan.
Punk was asked during the press conference about his recovery but refused to give much information.
“I like to keep the people in suspense,” was his response. “I’m ready to go and I feel great. There are things in place that protect me from myself that I wish were in place 10 years ago, but it’s not necessary to discuss the past.”
“I’m squeezing my a** to get back.” If I could steal the words that John used, it would be for the fans. “Whether you think he is more or less polarizing, whether you love me or hate me, I am coming back to enjoy these moments that were stolen from me when I was injured.”
“Shit happens. It’s a contact sports.” It’s awful, but I have been working hard to get back on track and rush my rehab. Everyone behind me has supported my decision, but they have also said, “We’re not in any hurry.’ I love that.”

Punk was asked what he thought of John Cena and replied:
“Cena is important to my career.” I don’t believe there are many people in the rare position where you feel you must talk about John if you discuss my career. It makes me proud that I feel that if you discuss John’s career you must talk about me. In that respect, we’re married. I’m proud of my husband, he can go out on his own terms, and I know that is important. I’m excited to see what he does, and I told him we had to do it one more time if there was going to be another time.
Punk was asked about AJ Lee possibly returning to WWE. He replied that it would be best to ask her, as she is busy with her production company and writing. Punk did mention, however, as a fan, that he “would absolutely love to see it.”
“She’s got a lot of irons in the fires.” Punk said, “I will say that as a fan of the actress, I would love to watch it.”
