Paul Heyman was Ronda’s biggest supporter during her WWE career, even though they weren’t on screen together.
Rousey praised Heyman, one of the few people at WWE who encouraged her creativity, in an interview published by Sports Illustrated on Wednesday. Rousey claims Heyman saw her more than as a wrestler or fighter.
Rousey said, “He was one of the few people that really encouraged me to be creative.” “He showed me that I am so much more than what my body is capable of,” Rousey said. So many people see me as an athlete or a fighter. It’s about performing, being in front of the camera, and focusing on my physical abilities-but with Paul, it was different.”
Rousey, who is now focusing on a career as an author, has released her first graphic book and is developing a screenplay for a Netflix movie about her life. She told Sports Illustrated Heyman was her very first creative writing mentor.
Rousey revealed that Paul Heyman asked her, “What do you want your film to be?” Paul produced my segments in the second half of her first year with WWE and he helped me to learn how to write and deliver my own promos.
“I had written before, but not creatively. He encouraged me to create something outside of myself. Paul was my first writer mentor, and he saw it in me.
Rousey hasn’t wrestled for WWE in August 2023 since leaving the promotion. She doubts that she will ever return, unless the company changes its management.
Last Friday at Madison Square Garden, Heyman was the focus of a major SmackDown storyline where he was beaten by The Bloodline for refusing to recognize Solo Sikoa’s role as Tribal Chief. Sikoa is now in control of The Bloodline, with Roman Reigns gone. He has brought Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa into the faction, and kicked out Jimmy Uso.
