The Oceania Cup will return.
NJPW announced via social media that the Oceania Cup, the first ever tournament, will be held on 16 August at the Metro Social in Sydney. Tickets will be available for purchase at 11am on Thursday, August 16th via Ticketsearch.
The NJPW OCEANIA CUP returns to Sydney, Friday 16 August, with #njpwTAMASHII. The tournament will feature 8 of the top Heavyweights from Oceania, with the winner receiving NJPW Oceania Cup for the first time!,” NJPW stated.
The Oceania Cup originally was scheduled to take place in Wagga Wagga (New South Wales) last year. NJPW announced later that they would withdraw from the tour and TNA would take its place. The shows were held on June 30th and July 1st. Alex Shelley defeated Steve Maclin in order to retain the TNA World Championship, and Deonna Purrazzo defeated Gisele Shaw in order to retain the TNA Knockouts Title.
NJPW will hold a Tamashii Event in Rolleston, Christchurch New Zealand, on July 28th at Rolleston College.
