Jack Perry is now the TNT Champion.
Perry won the title in Sunday’s Forbidden Door ladder match. In a match filled with wild bumps and crazy spots, Perry won the match after striking Mark Briscoe, stepping over Mark Briscoe in order to climb the ladder and grab his title. This was the first time he had won the championship.
Adam Copeland had broken his leg when he jumped off the steel cage during Double or Nothing. The Elite stripped Copeland off the title and was about to proclaim Perry the champion, when Christopher Daniels appeared on behalf of Tony Khan. Daniels announced that AEW would be hosting qualifying matches to determine the six participants. Perry defeated Dustin Rhodes in order to qualify.
Perry, who returned to AEW in April at the Dynasty pay per view, has aligned with The Elite. He took part in the laying out of Tony Khan. Perry pinned Bryan Danielson in the Anarchy in the Arena Match that took place at Double or Nothing despite being on fire.
