Kevin Kelly plans to sue AEW, according to him.
Kelly left the company in March, after working there since June 2023. He claims he was fired for going public on X to air his grievances about Ian Riccaboni’s disparaging remarks about him, and his frustrations over AEW’s treatment of the situation.
In a recent episode, Eric Bischoff questioned Kelly if he planned to sue AEW.
Kelly replied, “Yeah of course.”
Bischoff asked Kelly about Tony Khan, and the backstage atmosphere in AEW.
Kelly continued, “He has good people around him who he doesn’t use.” “His vision of wrestling, for me, works better on a smaller scale. People always ask why PWG stayed small. They knew, I believe, that if they went large, it would get stale quickly.”
“(Tony Khan’s) vision of wrestling is aimed at a niche market. He thinks that he can convince people to watch wrestling on a large scale. He’s also made himself the face for the company. He’s now the one doing TV interviews.”
Kelly had earlier brought up Riccaboni’s comments on a Discord server regarding Kelly promoting “Sound of Freedom” in a broadcast. Kelly claims that the comments were defamatory, and they hurt his reputation in the industry.
Kelly asked about the film: “It is about child trafficking. How could anyone (not) be opposed to child trafficking?” “Well, apparently, it’s a QAnon conspiracies movie, Eric. I don’t think you knew that.”
Bischoff added: “Ian, listen up, you’re fucking strange, and people who think the same as you are fucking bizarre.”
Kristen Abrams, Senior Director of The McCain Institute’s Combating Human Trafficking Symposium, has publicly criticized this film. She claims that the film promotes “false stories” about child trafficking, and has done “more damage than good.”
In an article published by USA Today, she wrote: “What all moviegoers, especially our nation’s leading lawmakers, must know is that the depictions in this film of child trafficking, and the rescue techniques celebrated in it, are highly sensationalized and misleading, and do more harm than benefit.”
