Swerve Strickland and rapper Flash Garments’ partnership will be the subject of a new documentary.
The film will be centered on the period after Strickland’s WWE debut in late 2022. Around the same time, Kanye West’s team cut clothing. The pair then collaborated to create a new theme for Strickland’s role in AEW.
Deadline reported on Monday that the documentary will be produced by identical twin comedy duo Kenny and Keith Lucas, (Judas and Black Messiah), along with comedian/director Mookie Thomson.
Strickland told Deadline that he and Flash Garments were introduced at a very interesting time in their lives. “We knew that we were meant to create history together by collaborating hip-hop and pro wrestling at a new level. The Lucas brothers captured the moment in the best possible light.”
Garments said, “I was genuinely shocked and honored that the Lucas Bros wanted to make a fusion document regarding pro wrestling and Hip Hop to highlight us and show our impact in both fields.” “Get ready for an exclusive and premium viewing experience.”
The Lucas Brothers said, “As lifelong hip-hop and wrestlers, we were immediately captivated by Swerve’s and Flash’s groundbreaking works in AEW.” In an era when the media often portrays African American men in conflict, Swerve and Flash’s partnership is a beautiful demonstration of the incredible things which can happen when African American males work together. We believe that their story should be told.
Strickland will be featured on AEW’s Dynamite segment this week. He’ll face off against his upcoming opponent Will Ospreay in the segment. Strickland will defend the AEW world championship against Ospreay at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door on June 30.
