Shota Umino has a serious injury.
Umino had been scheduled to appear in NJPW’s New Japan Soul Show on Sunday in Sapporo. It was revealed just before the show started that Umino is out of commission with a back problem.
“Shota umino, who had been scheduled to take part in the “NEW JAPAN SOL” Sapporo Tournament held today, is also absent due to back injury. There will be changes to the fight schedule due to this. We apologize for this sudden announcement and appreciate your understanding,” reads the translation of NJPW’s post.
Umino had been paired with Hirooki goto and YOSHI HASHI to face House of Torture’s EVIL against Yujiro Takahashi & Dick Togo. Goto and YOSHIHASHI instead defeated Dick Togo & EVIL by a two-on-2 tag match.
Umino’s final match was against Rocky Romero during AEW Rampage taping on Wednesday at the Wells Fargo Arena, in Des Moines.
