Hikaru Shida, a former three-time AEW women’s champion, announced her participation in the upcoming Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament during Saturday’s AEW Collision.
Shida joins former TBS Champions Willow Nightingale, Kris Statlander and Mariah May.
Shida hasn’t been active in AEW rings since January, when she won a match against Queen Aminata during an episode of Dynamite. She has since made two Ring of Honor matches and challenged Women’s Champions Athena in April’s Supercard of Honor.
She qualified for the 2022 tournament but was removed due to reported visa problems.
The Owen tournament winners will be eligible to compete for the World title at August’s All In in London’s Wembley Stadium. The start date is not yet known, but the finals are scheduled to take place in Calgary, Alberta on Wednesday, July 10.
