Adam Copeland: Doctor is ‘optimistic about fractured leg’ recovery in todays Wrestling news

Adam Copeland has a positive attitude towards his recovery after a fractured tibia.

Copeland told Sports Illustrated, that while he expected rehab to be difficult and his doctor was optimistic about Copeland’s prognosis, his surgery had been successful. Copeland’s injury will allow him to spend more time with his family.

“My Achilles tendon tear a few year ago led to the most difficult rehab I’ve ever had, and I expect more of it,” Copeland said. “I’m 50. I know what lies ahead of me. The doctor was optimistic about my bones because they were healthy after the surgery.

“It is my seventh surgery so I know what to expect.” We’ll see if my body cooperates.”

Copeland’s return to AEW has not been given a timetable. He won’t be allowed to put any weight on his leg for the next 8-10 week.

The injury occurred when Copeland was competing against Malakai in a steel barbed cage match for TNT Championship at AEW’s Double or Nothing. Copeland fractured his tibia after landing feet-first on the cage when he jumped. Copeland finished the match despite his injuries.

Copeland told Sports Illustrated he was most concerned about not hurting Black.

Copeland said, “My biggest concern was how to not crush him. I didn’t consider getting hurt.” “My thought was that if I jumped, landed on the floor, and hit him only with my arm, but not my body, the table would fall because of its sheer height. It went exactly as I had planned.”

Copeland admits that the risk of jumping from the top of cage was unnecessary. He believes he would have gained the same amount of mileage if he had jumped off the toprope instead.

Copeland retained his TNT Championship against Black in Double or Nothing, but was forced to give up the title because of an injury. On June 30, there will be a ladder-match at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door to determine the new champ. Konosuke Takeshita, Mark Briscoe and others have already qualified. The qualifying matches continue this week, with Jack Perry taking on Dustin Rhodes in Dynamite, and Lee Moriarty taking on Dante Martin in Collision.
