Dax Harwood has been suspended from action.
Harwood took to social media to explain that he and Cash Wheeler were being taken off the road to allow Harwood to recover from a hematoma that he suffered in April, which he had tried to work through without telling anyone.
In a video posted on X, he apologized first to Tony Khan and the other AEW staff for not being upfront about his situation over the past few months. He claimed that after giving Matt Jackson a pilferer at AEW Dynamics in April, he messed his lower back up “really, seriously bad,” causing a serious hematoma. He didn’t want Cash Wheeler and himself to be taken off the road, so he wanted to work it out.
Harwood said that after his match against Blackpool Combat Club on AEW Collison last weekend, the hematoma grew as large as a football backstage while icing.
He said, “The pain was excruciating for the last few months.”
He said he did not want to tell anyone because he did not want FTR to be taken off the air. He told Doc Sampson at AEW of his situation on Saturday and was taken off the roads. On Monday, he had an x-ray done on his pelvis. Sampson said that he should rest the injury, or it could lead him to retirement.
“I don’t know how much longer this will last, I don’t know how many months we’ll have to be away, but unfortunately or maybe fortunately for those of you who don’t like FTR myself and Cash won’t be on TV for a while,” said he. “I need to rest this thing.”
He said that he’s had many sleepless nights because he can’t find a comfortable position to sleep in. He hopes that FTR will be even better when they return.
