Mariah May, former TBS champion, declares for women’s AEW-Owen Hart Foundation tournament in todays Wrestling news
After Saturday’s AEW collision, the women’s Owen Hart Foundation has its first three entrants: former TBS Champions Kris Statlander, Willow Nightingale, and Mariah May.
Stokely Hathaway said that Statlander would make history as the first woman to ever hold both the AEW World Women’s title and the TBS title.
Nightingale, the winner of last year’s tournament, was interviewed behind Statlander and asked to comment on his declaration. She then announced that she would also be entering the tournament.
After AEW Women’s Champion Toni Storm’s non-title victory over Lady Frost, May pulled her onto the apron. She suggested that she enter the tournament and the former Stardom Star accepted.
In a new format, the winners of the men’s and the women’s tournaments are eligible to compete for the World title at the August All In at London Wembley Stadium. The start date is not yet known, but the finals are scheduled to take place in Calgary, Alberta on Wednesday, 10th July.
Bryan Danielson is the only male competitor so far.
