Janel Grant delays Vince McMahon and WWE lawsuits at Justice Department request in todays Wrestling news
Janel Grant has agreed that she will halt her lawsuit against Vince McMahon and WWE as well as John Laurinaitis.
Ann Callis, Grant’s attorney, said that her client had agreed to the request of the US Attorney’s office to suspend her litigation until a nonpublic investigation was conducted.
“Ms. Grant has consented, in response to a request from the US Attorney of the Southern District of New York, to stay her case, against Mr. McMahon and WWE, as well as Mr. Laurinaitis. This is due to an ongoing non-public investigation,” Ann Callis said, an attorney for Grant. She sent an email statement to Bloomberg, on Thursday. “We will be cooperative with all appropriate steps.”
The Wall Street Journal reported in February that the US Attorney of the Southern District of New York launched a criminal probe into allegations of sexual abuse and sex-trafficking against McMahon.
Dave Meltzer, our own writer, wrote: “The Justice Department has requested that the Grant case be halted while the government conducts its own investigation.”
Jessica Rosenberg, McMahon’s lawyer and a partner at Kasowitz, Benson Torres issued the following statement to media outlets such as WON/F4W:
“We are confident that the evidence will prove that Ms. Grant’s allegations are false, and her complaint is nothing but a fabricated narrative from a disgruntled ex-girlfriend.”
Bloomberg reported that a source with knowledge of the case said that the stay would last for six months.
