The AEW Continental classic has been updated with new details
AEW announced a new championship as well as more competitors and information about the Continental Classic.
During Saturday’s Full Gear pay per view, it was revealed that the Continental Classic winner will become the first ever AEW Continental Champion. Eddie Kingston will also be putting on the line his ROH World Championship & NJPW Openweight Championship in each of the tournament matches. This means that the Continental Classic winner would hold three titles, and become the first ever AEW Triple Crown champion.
Tony Khan, AEW’s social media manager, confirmed the new tournament details in a later post. Kingston announced that he would be putting his titles on the table in a Full Gear promo segment.
The Continental Classic begins this week on Wednesday, Thanksgiving Eve, on #AEWDynamite. No interference, no one at ringside, 12 fighters. The winner becomes AEW Continental Champion, ROH World Champion, NJPW Strong Openweight Champion and a new Triple Crown Champion for Worlds End.
At Full Gear in Kingston & Mark Briscoe, two more competitors were announced. This brings the total of participants to four.
The Continental Classic will begin on AEW Dynamite this Wednesday. The tournament final will take place at Worlds End via pay-per view on Saturday, December 30, 2009. The tournament is free of outside interference and no one can accompany the competitors ringside.
