Mercedes Mone wins TBS title in AEW debut match in todays Wrestling news
Mercedes Mone is now the TBS Champion.
Mone won the TBS Championship in her debut in the ring for the promotion at Sunday’s AEW “Double or Nothing” pay-per-view event in Las Vegas.
Mone won her first AEW match after a long absence by pinning Nightingale with her Mone Maker finisher.
Nightingale had Mone pin after a doctor’s bomb, but Nightingale seconds Kris Statlander, and Stokely Hathaway, distracted the referee. This gave Mone an extra second to kick out.
Hathaway criticized Nightingale after the match for losing. Statlander pushed Hathaway to the ground, then teased Nightingale leaving with her. Statlander and Nightingale made their way up the ramp. Statlander finished her turn by laying Nightingale out with a discus-lariat. She then posed with Hathaway.
Mone is making her return to ring after suffering an ankle injury that could have ended her career in a NJPW match against Nightingale, on May 21, 2023.
Mone made her debut AEW appearance in Dynamite: Big Business, in March. The company announced her signing and unveiled the free agent at her hometown of Boston.
