Will Ospreay believes that his back and forth with Paul Levesque, “Triple H”, did not cause any harm.
Levesque and Ospreay exchanged shots in comments made in April. Levesque, without mentioning Ospreay directly, told the Pat McAfee Show he didn’t like people in WWE that choose a lighter schedule or aren’t into the grind. Ospreay responded to Levesque in a AEW Dynamite promo, saying that he is only in his current position because he “grinded on the boss’s daughter.”
In an interview with Adrian Hernandez on Unlikely, Ospreay acknowledged that it was a bit difficult to hear what Levesque had said about him. Ospreay claimed he was being funny with his reply. He comes from a time when, if someone fired a shot at you you would fire back.
Ospreay believes that the situation is over now that both players have fired their shots.
It is what is. I’m done with it. I’ve said what I wanted to say. My thing was funny. I feel that everyone took it too personally. All these old f*cks who have a podcast think they know it all. Man, I couldn’t care less about these guys. As soon as they said it, I shot back. It should be done. It’s all good. The thing is that I really like Triple H. I like Triple H. I was respectful throughout the entire f*cking talk. I have a mission, my own objectives and my own goals. Just because something doesn’t match your style doesn’t mean that people should shoot at me. I’m from a generation where you shoot at me and I fire back.
Ospreay stated on Unlikely, that he enjoys both AEW as well as WWE. He hates tribalism, and wishes that everyone could enjoy all of pro wrestling.
In November 2023, it was announced that Ospreay signed a multiyear AEW contract. He began the promotion in full-time this year, after completing his NJPW obligations.
Ospreay will face Roderick Strong in a Double or Nothing match this Sunday for the AEW International Championship. If Ospreay is successful, it will be the first time he has won a title in AEW.
