Mercedes Mone is both nervous and excited for her AEW debut.

Mone will be competing in an AEW ring at Double or Nothing on Sunday for the first ever time. Mone will also be wrestling for the first time in over a year. She has been out of the ring since May 2023, when she suffered an ankle injury in a match against Willow Nightingale for NJPW.

Double or Nothing will also feature Nightingale as Mone’s opponent. The TBS Championship will be on the line.

In an interview with The Ringer Mone stated that she feels more pressure than excitement going into Double or Nothing. Mone admits that there are nerves after such a long break, but she is confident in her and Nightingale’s ability to steal the show.

Mone said, “I don’t put pressure on myself since I’ve done this for 14 years.” “I am more excited than nervous, but I’m also really nervous, because it’s only been a year since my last performance. But being in the ring alongside someone like Willow Nightingale is going to be everything I’ve dreamed about.” We’re going out there and stealing the show.”

Mone has only played five matches since leaving WWE in 2022. All of them were for NJPW or Stardom. Mone told The Ringer she is ready to show people who Mercedes Mone really is. Mone believes that she is the greatest female wrestler ever.

Mone said, “They haven’t seen the CEO.” “They may know Sasha Banks, but they have never seen the CEO, Mercedes Mone. I’m ready and willing to show them. I am the greatest female wrestler ever, 100 percent.”

Mone signed a contract with AEW in the beginning of this year. She made her debut as a member on the AEW roster in March.

Double or Nothing will be broadcast from the MGM Grand Garden Arena, Las Vegas, on Sunday. The main card starts at 8 p.m. Eastern.
