AEW’s Tony Khan spoke for an hour to the media on Thursday to promote Sunday’s Double or Nothing. While the call was not very newsworthy, it did contain a few interesting points.

Below you can listen to the entire audio recording.

Khan said that he called Darby Allin first to see how he felt physically before deciding who would fill Eddie Kingston’s spot in the Anarchy In The Arena match. Allin said he would take Kingston’s place without Khan asking him, which Khan thought to be a funny incident.

Khan, when asked about the decision to run the show at the MGM Grand Garden Arena instead of the T-Mobile Arena on Sunday, said that it was a sentimental decision as the MGM Grand Garden Arena is where the show launched five years earlier.

Khan, when asked about his role as an on-screen actor, said that he had really tried to limit the number of times he appeared on TV. This is exactly how it should be. Even with the current Elite storyline, he wants the focus on the wrestlers to be the main attraction. He was the only person who could lift Allin’s ban from the Young Bucks last night.

Khan, when asked about the report that Mark Henry’s contract is expiring soon, said they would have to examine it internally. He also expressed his admiration for Henry as a media personality.

Khan, when asked about future residencies, like the Summer Series they are doing in Arlington, Texas said that the city gave them an excellent deal and a great venue which was attractive. If other cities copy this Summer Series and it goes well, they could use it as a model in the future.

Khan did not give a direct response when asked about moving All Out to a week after Wembley All In. He said, however, that he wanted it to be a better experience for the fans who had just come from Wembley All In. He also said Labor Day has more competition now than when they first started, and that he felt it was a good idea to stay in Chicago and hold the race in September.
