Dominik Mysterio said he was “very blessed” that he knew Eddie Guerrero.

In 2005, Guerrero and Dominik were involved in a storyline on WWE SmackDown. In the storyline, Guerrero revealed himself to be Dominik’s biological father. However, Mysterio won custody over the 8-year old in a match that took place at SummerSlam. Guererro died of heart failure at the age 38, less than three months after the storyline.

Dominik told Sports Illustrated recently that sharing a ring was an honor.

Dominik said, “Not everyone has worked with Eddie.” “I hear people saying, ‘My ideal match would be Eddie Guerrero.’Sh*t, mine, too. It was an honor to share the ring with Eddie Guerrero.

A&E’s Biography: WWE Legends will feature Guerrero on Sunday.

Dominik continued, “Eddie planted the seed in 2005 of what I was going do.” “I am very grateful to have known him and I will always be grateful to keep his name alive.”

While it is not clear whether Guerrero remains Dominik’s father in WWE storyline he often mimics Guerrero during his matches. He claims Vickie Guerrero gave him permission to do so.

Dominik is currently out of action with a Tommy John tear, but he recently stated that his recovery was going well. He has been on the WWE main-roster for almost four years. His first match was against Seth Rollins during SummerSlam 2020. Dominik is aware of the legacy he carries and will not let his family down.

Dominik continued, “I was brought up with that old-school love for business.” “That’s an important part of our family dynamics.” We have a great deal of respect for Mysterio and this sport. I carry my family’s history, my lineage, and my family on my shoulders. “I’m not going let my six godfathers down, who are legends.

Dominik, like his father Rey Mysterio, and his storyline dad Eddie Guerrero, credits Konnan with much of his success. He says he can count on him to give honest advice.

Dominik said, “Konnan is the tough love that I’ve always needed.” “Especially if he is someone you know, you will know that he tells it like it is. He doesn’t sugarcoat. Personally, I needed that. I don’t wish to offend anyone, but as the son of Rey Mysterio you have no idea what you’re doing. I could have an s— match and people say, “That was really good” just to be on the good side. You don’t really know if it’s real. Then I would get a phone call from Konnan. He would say things like, ‘Your puns looked like shit’, ‘You need work on this’, or ‘Stop the 619′ if you aren’t going to do it correctly.’

Dominik thinks Konnan is the “tough love” he needs.

“Konnan has always been tough with me, ever since I began training with him and my father. He still watches my matches and I am a student of the sport, so I’m always willing learn from someone who revolutionized this sport.
