Triple threat match for North American championship set for WWE NXT Battleground in todays Wrestling news
NXT Battleground has added two new matches.
Oba Femi, in a triple-threat match, will defend the NXT North American championship in Las Vegas at the UFC Apex on June 9, against Wes Lee and Joe Coffey. Coffey and Lee pinned Josh Briggs, in a match to determine who would be the next challenger for Femi. Ava announced the Battleground three-way later.
Originally, NXT had planned for the match to be between Briggs and Lee, with Ivar as a third participant. During the week, it was revealed that Ivar would be out of action due to an injury and Coffey will replace him in the match.
On Tuesday, Shayna Baszler was paired with Lola Vice in an NXT Underground match after the main event saw Karmen Petrovic & Natalya defeat Baszler & Vice. Vice knocked out Baszler after the match. She recovered quickly and put Vice into a choke. Ava then made the match, and Baszler said it would be an NXT Underground match, after the referees had separated them.
