NJPW announced a change in the lineup for the Best of the Super Juniors 31, night seven.
Francesco Akira, United Empire’s Francesco Akira, will miss the show tomorrow due to a injury to his knee. He was supposed to be in a tag team match with Callum Newman, against Hiromu Takahashi and Yota tsuji. After a medical evaluation, his status for the rest of the tournament will determined.
Tsuji will now wrestle Shoma Kato and Katsuya Murashima on Tuesday.
NJPW stated that “Akira’s condition for the May 22 group match and subsequent dates on the Best of the Super Jr. 31 Tour will be determined following medical evaluation.”
“We apologize to fans who were eager to see Akira wrestle and appreciate your understanding.”
Akira and Drilla Moloney were in the B Block on Sunday’s Hachioji show. Akira had already sold his injured leg before the match, and Moloney concentrated on it throughout their match. Moloney made Akira submit to a leglock, and then continued to attack Akira’s leg. Akira was unable to put weight on his leg and had to be carried to the back.
Akira’s BOSJ score is currently 2-3. His next tournament match will be on Wednesday, when he will face Takahashi.
