Rey Mysterio says that separating our WWE team was the best thing to happen to Dominik in todays Wrestling news
Rey Mysterio believes that Dominik’s WWE Career has been benefited by the separation of their tag team.
Rey spoke about his son’s success in WWE while appearing on Rampage Jackson’s Jaxxon Podcast. Rey said that Dominik’s growth has been incredible over the last three years. Dominik initially struggled to live-up to the comparisons made between him and father. Rey believes that Dominik has thrived since he turned his back on his father.
“It would be disappointing for my son to appear out of the blue and not have my style or a different build. He’s 6’1. He weighs around 190 [lbs]. Rey said that it was difficult for him to adapt to his new role and to find his place as a wrestler at first. “The comparisons were made. He couldn’t match them. He didn’t continue on his own path until we separated. “That was the best thing to happen to him.”
Rey and Dominik teamed up when Dominik made his WWE debut in 2020. They became the first father and son tag team champions of WWE history. However, Dominik turned against Rey later on and joined The Judgment Day. Dominik is in the group along with Rhea Ripley Damian Priest Finn Balor and JD McConagh.
Rey spoke of his pride at his son’s accomplishments on the Jaxxon podcast.
Mysterio said, “He’s had more success in the last three years than I ever had in my three years of breaking into the business.” “I mean, the times are different. You can only imagine my pride as a dad. Incredible.”
Rey and Dominik competed in a singles bout at WrestleMania39 and also in a tag-team match at WrestleMania40.
Dominik is currently out of action due to an elbow injury. Dominik was initially expected to need Tommy John surgery. However, he has decided to rehab his injury through physical therapy rather than surgery.
