WWE & Saudi Arabia discuss hosting WrestleMania, Royal Rumble or WrestleMania in 2026 or even 2027 in todays Wrestling news
The man who is behind the Saudi Arabian bid to host a WWE PLE with a high-profile wrestler in the future has given dates for either WrestleMania, or the Royal Rumble.
Turki Alsheikh, General Entertainment Authority Chairman, told Ariel Helwani of The MMA Hour on Wednesday that they have been in contact with WWE to host either WrestleMania 2026 or the Royal Rumble 2027. This would be unprecedented given the history of the two shows.
Alsheikh said to ESPN last week that an “enhancement’ to their deal would be announced in this month. This is expected to happen next week, when WWE returns to Saudi Arabia to host King & Queen Of The Ring. WWE has not publicly commented on any talks.
A contract signed in 2018 allows WWE to bring two PLEs a year to Saudi Arabia. One of them is Crown Jewel, which is unique to this country. As part of the deal, WWE is expected to earn $50 million per event.
TKO, the parent of WWE and UFC has further embedded itself in Saudi Arabia. They recently announced a deal in which they will host another UFC show in addition to sponsoring UFC’s debut (UFC 306) in Las Vegas.
WrestleMania was held on foreign soil twice in its 40-year existence, both times in Toronto. The first Rumble was held in Hamilton (Canada) in 1988, but since then, it has been held in the United States.
