In a recent interview with Jon Moxley, he opened up about his career.
The IWGP World Heavyweight champion told Sports Illustrated he liked the idea of being unique enough that fans wouldn’t know how to place him on “your lists, your rankings or whatever f –.”
Moxley, a member of the Blackpool Combat Club, is in a book group and uses a quote by Ozan Varol from Awaken Your Genius to describe his career.
“The line is similar to Thelonious Monk’s saying, ‘A genius is the person who is most like themselves. The Latin word genius refers to a spirit that is present in everyone at birth. “Each of us is Aladdin and our genie, or genius, is bottled up within us waiting to be awoken,” Moxley said.
The book’s tagline reads “Escape conformity and ignite creativity to become extraordinary.” Other works by the author include “Think like a Rocket Scientist,” and “The Democratic Coup d’Etat.”
“That’s the reason I try to concentrate on what I’m trying to do.” What’s the saying about? Comparison is the death to happiness? I am the only one. Please forgive me for using the third person but I am the only Jon Moxley. Moxley continued, “I don’t think I’ll see another one in any f —- near future.”
Moxley successfully defended the IWGP World title against Shota umino at NJPW Resurrection on Saturday. He will next defend the belt at NJPW Dominion in Osaka on June 9.
“I like the idea that when it’s over, and I have been eaten by a coyote or something, and people look back at everything, you won’t be able to classify me as a historical figure,” Moxley said. “You don’t know where to place me on your lists, your rankings, or whatever the f—.
You don’t know where to classify, but you can’t ignore me. So, you’ll have to give my own space. “I like that.”
