Randy Orton: WWE France fans were’mind-blowing.’ in todays Wrestling news
Orton hopes WWE will bring more PLEs in France.
Randy Orton was moved by the passion and dedication of WWE fans in Lyon, France.
WWE was in Lyon last week for both SmackDown & Backlash. WWE had a red-hot atmosphere for both shows.
This was the very first time France hosted a WWE PPV/PLE. Orton told Adam’s Apple that he hoped WWE would do more premium live events there.
WWE also held house shows in Italy and Austria to coincide with Backlash. Orton told Adam’s Apple, when asked about the difference in crowds between the United States and overseas: “It’s night and day.”
Do you want to know the truth? Evening and night. Let’s put it this way. Since 2009, my entrance song has been the same. No American crowd ever sang my song. They did it three nights in France.
The first two shows were in Bologna and Vienna, Austria. I could hear the singers there as well. France, it was just mind-blowing. Just as an example.
They were happy to be there. They were on their feet all the time. They knew us all, our characters, well enough to know what they wanted. We gave it to them. It was a wonderful environment. I hope we do PLEs there more often.
Orton took part in the opening match of Backlash. He teamed up with Kevin Owens to fight Solo Sikoa and Tama Tonga on the streets. Tanga Loa, a new Bloodline member, made his WWE debut to help Sikoa & Tonga win.
