Jim Ross says that his health is better than it has been for over a year. in todays Wrestling news
Ross spoke with Sports Illustrated in recent times.
Jim Ross spoke to Sports Illustrated recently about his health, calling Sting’s final match and his new book.
Ross, who had hip surgery earlier this summer, says that his health is better than it has been in the past year.
He said:
I am happy to report that my health is better than in the past year. My right hip is healing and improving. My radiation wound, which I received after a skin cancer diagnosis and am now cancer-free, is still healing. Vaping has helped. Vaping has helped me stop taking pain medications and get through the night.
I’m feeling good. I’m still doing the things I love.
Ross, who had undergone hip surgery a month earlier, was in the commentary booth at AEW’s final match on March 3, 2003 in Greensboro. The 72-year old told Sports Illustrated he wouldn’t miss the show, no matter what.
Ross said:
I had my right femur replaced and it is healing well. However, my surgeon and myself failed to schedule a check-up so I did not realize that I had 28 staples.
It was my first trip since the hip surgery. I kept saying to myself “This is painful.” I thought it was just me. It was the staples that were causing the pain.
It was an emotional night and the pulse of the people at Greensboro Coliseum helped me to ease my pain. Even if I had known what I would face, I would still have gone. Sting means everything to me. I was not going to miss this.
Everyone talks about Sting, but I first met him when he tagged with Rick Steiner-and, before that, Jim Hellwig-in Mid-South. When Cowboy [Bill Watts] sacked Hellwig, he told Sting that he was wanted. He’s a natural babyface. It’s difficult to boo him. I had to deal with the pain. There are people in this world who suffer a lot more than I do.
“Business is about to pick up! The book “50 Years of Wrestling: 50 Unforgettable Decisions” is now available. Ross chronicles in the book 50 of his greatest wrestling calls.
Ross says about the book:
The book needed short chapters and that’s exactly what it has. It’s basically a quick read. You can read a chapter in the bathroom.
