WWE announced that Asuka was withdrawn from the Queen of the Ring Tournament due to injury.
WWE’s Queen of the Ring Tournament kicked off Monday’s Raw with an Asuka-Lyra Valkyria match. Dakota Kai, Kairi SANE, and IYO SKY from Damage CTRL announced in a Monday promo segment that Asuka had been injured and that Kairi would be taking her place in the Valkyria Match.
Asuka was part of the WWE’s European Tour last week. She and Sane lost the Women’s Tag Team title to Jade Cargill & Bianca Belair at Saturday’s Backlash in France.
WWE has not commented on the nature of Asuka’s current injury.
Kai, who replaced Asuka in the first-round tournament match, lost to Valkyria during Monday’s Raw. The show featured three first-round matches from the King and Queen of the Ring Tournaments.
