Darby Allin was trying to keep a friend safe when he had his bus accident.
Allin revealed over the weekend that he is recovering after being hit in the face by the bus. Allin was already recovering from a broken leg that he sustained last month when the accident happened.
Allin spoke about the bus accident on the Daly Migs Show, a rock station in Seattle at 99.9 KISW on Tuesday.
He was hanging out with punk musician Raymond Pettibon in New York City, who is 66 and can’t walk well. Pettibon was walking while a bus turned right. Allin was afraid that the bus would not see his friend and so he hurried Pettibon away. Allin was hit in the face by the side of the window. Allin claimed that the bus was traveling 8-10 miles per hours.
We’re hanging out in New York and he’s a jaywalker. I see a bus making a right-hand turn. I thought, “There’s no chance they’ll see Raymond walking at night.” It’s not like that. Like I said, he doesn’t really walk well. As I push him, I say, “All right, hurry up.” Hurry up. There’s a bus approaching. The bus was going 8-10 miles per hour when it took a turn, so it wasn’t 30 miles per hour. As I was pushing him away, the side of bus window bounced my face off. You could say that I saved Raymond Pettibon’s life.
Allin says he was not checked out immediately, but received medical attention later.
He said, “The nose is definitely broken.” “The only things that broke in the accident were my nose and dignity.”
Allin broke his foot in March while playing Jay White on the Big Business episode of AEW Dynamics. Allin’s climb of Mount Everest was postponed until 2025 due to the injury.
Allin told Daly Migs that his foot won’t heal until June.
