Sami Zayn claims that CM Punk and him are on a ‘clean sheet’ in WWE in todays Wrestling news
Zayn and Punk talked about their past issues.
Sami Zayn and CM Punk are both starting from scratch now that CM is back in WWE.
Zayn was interviewed last week by Gorilla position during WWE’s UK house show tour. Zayn was then asked about his relationship with Punk since Punk’s return to WWE in November.
Zayn says that despite the “weird things” they’ve done in the past, it’s now a new start. When Punk returned to WWE, they had a discussion about their past issues.
Zayn told Gorilla Position:
I’ve known this man for a very long time. There have been ups and downs. I went to him and said, “Look, I don’t want it to be weird. You know, just say whatever you want to say. Say your piece.’ I said my piece. Clean slate, if you will. That’s it.
You know what I’m saying? You can’t just walk around with resentment. I don’t want to see him walking by like a dark cloud. You know what I’m saying? Or vice versa. I don’t like him to see me [groans]. Hey, what happened? Cards on the table. Let’s just say, “Clean slate?” Good? Good? Ok.’
That’s all there is to it. I guess I’m the same way about him and life. In my experience, I’ve learned that it’s exhausting to hate other people [laughs]. You’re the only one who is mad, you understand? You’re suddenly the one under a cloud. I don’t want to be under that cloud. Has there ever been anything weird between us? Sure. I’m sure 90 percent of the people you ask would agree. As far as I’m worried, hey, let’s work together, we’re here, and you’ve experienced a lot. Let’s just start over with a clean slate. That’s it.
Zayn’s friend Kevin Owens had issues with Punk, dating back to the time when Punk and Owens worked together in ROH earlier in their careers.
Zayn vs. Punk has never been played. Both were entrants at the Royal Rumble earlier in the year, where Punk was injured. Punk can still be selected for the 2024 WWE Draft, despite his injury. He will be on both nights of draft.
Zayn, as the Intercontinental Champion is not eligible to be selected. He will remain on the Raw roster. Zayn’s current feud involves both Chad Gable, and Bronson Reese.
