Jim Ross hopes to get more commentary assignments at AEW in addition to calling pay per view.
Ross signed a one-year contract with AEW. Ross will be contributing to AEW PPV events as part of the deal. He called the opening match as well as the main event of AEW Dynasty on Sunday.
Ross stated that he hopes to make other appearances as a commentator along the way.
Tony Khan has hired me to do pay-per views, and I am thrilled to death to be a part of them. It’s great to have PPVs every month. I hope to see a few more assignments thrown in along the way, either Dynamite or collision.
Ross has mentioned that he brought up the possibility of him calling the final episode of Collision in advance of a PPV.
Tony had me contribute to pay-per view. I will be there once a month. I wouldn’t be surprised if, in the future — I told him this, you know — I did a Collision at the go-home show. The last Collision until the pay-per view Sunday. That’s a good idea. You know how old carny types like me are, we always try to get booked.
Ross called the matches at Dynasty between Kazuchika Okada vs. PAC and Swerve Strickland vs. Samoa Joe.
Since 2019, Ross is part of AEW. Ross, 72, said in his podcast that working is still something he enjoys. Ross said, “It’s in my DNA.”
