Janel Grant files motion for Vince McMahon to be removed from his preliminary statement in todays Wrestling news
Grant’s lawyers called McMahon’s statement ‘inflammatory lie’.
Janel Grant’s lawyers have filed to strike out statements made in Vince McMahon’s preliminary response to this lawsuit.
Grant’s lawyers filed a motion on Wednesday to strike down what they called the “inflammatory lies” in McMahon’s memorandum. Grant’s motion states that the statements were used as a “platform to launch vicious lies attacking Janel’s character in an effort to harass and intimidate Janel into submission.”
The motion states further:
McMahon’s easily refuted falsehoods have no place in this matter. It was neither necessary, reasonable or responsible to use public filings to question Janel’s moral character. McMahon’s desperate attempt at distracting from the legal substance in the Motion highlights its weakness as well as the weakness of his case.
This Court has the inherent power to strike down a party’s filings. Janel respectfully requests the Court to exercise this power and strike the “Preliminary statement” of the Motion in its entirety, and admonish McMahon’s counsel that such statements do not belong in civil litigation.
Jessica T. Rosenberg, McMahon’s lawyer, responded to Grant’s motion for strike in a statement issued to Post Wrestling:
Plaintiff had no legal right to bring the case before a public court, but she did it anyway. She wants to silence him now that she has falsely accused Mr. McMahon in a public forum. She can’t be both.
McMahon filed an arbitration memorandum on Tuesday. In his statement, McMahon vehemently denounced Grant’s allegations of sexual abuse, trafficking, and assault.
Plaintiff has blatantly and deliberately violated an arbitration agreement by filing her salacious and false Complaint. The outrageous claims of abuse and coercion in the Complaint are pure fiction, clearly intended to gain publicity. Plaintiff’s contemporaneous statements are also in direct contradiction. Contrary to Plaintiff’s false allegations, Plaintiff engaged in a relationship with Defendant that was consensual. Defendant did not coerce Plaintiff into anything and did not mistreat her in any way.
McMahon quit TKO and WWE shortly after Grant filed his lawsuit in January.
