The Briscoe Family has welcomed a newborn child into the world.
Mark Briscoe revealed the birth of Matthew Jamin Pugh to the world on Wednesday. The middle name of the newborn is a tribute for Mark’s late older brother Jay Briscoe (real name Jamin Pugh), who died in a car crash on January 17, 2023.
Briscoe’s wife and he now have eight children.
Briscoe confirmed to Sports Illustrated in November last year that he and wife were expecting a second child. He said that they have almost a full team of children now.
Briscoe confirmed, “Yes, baby number eight is on its way.” “It’s like a whole baseball squad.”
The couple welcomed their fifth son after three girls.
Briscoe said, “For the seven games that preceded it, it was a World Series where Game 7 was played.” “It was girl, girl and girl. I thought that it would be a four game sweep. Then we had boy, boy, boy. It came down to Game 7 and it was a guy. The boys won. My wife is amazing. “We have a bunch of kids.”
Since Jay Briscoe passed away, the name Jamin Pugh is also honored in Sussex County, Delaware. Last October, Laurel High School held a dedication ceremony where they renamed a football locker room to the Jamin Pugh locker room.
