MLW announces a match for vacant Tag Team Titles in todays Wrestling news
On May 11, MLW Azteca Lucha will crown new champions.
After vacating its belts, MLW revealed how it will crown its new tag-team champions.
Satoshi Kojima & Okumura vs. Second Gear Crew (1 Called Manders & Matthew Justice) for the MLW tag team titles will take place during the promotion’s Azteca lucha event in Cicero Illinois on Saturday, 11 May. The event will take place at Cicero Stadium, and will be broadcast live on TrillerTV+.
The MLW Tag Team title was declared vacant this past week after an incident in which champions Tom Lawlor & Davey Boy Smith Jr. had been attacked by Contra Unit. MLW stated that the attack “left Tom Lawlor in the hospital and Davey Boy Smith Jr. unable compete, resulting the championship committee declaring vacant the titles.”
Before Lawlor & Smith vacated the tag titles, a Lawlor & Smith vs. Kojima & Okumura was set up.
Kojima & Okumura are a pair of NJPW & CMLL veterans. Kojima, the current World Heavyweight champion of MLW is a NJPW and CMLL veteran.
Second Gear Crew is a former MLW tag champion, having held the titles between November 2023 and February this year.
