TNA Rebellion: Sami Callihan returns and Shawne Merriman is crowned new champion in todays Wrestling news
In Las Vegas, one title was won and one lost.
Sami Callihan is back with TNA after a few months as a freelancer.
The former TNA World Champion returned in a surprise during the Knockouts title bout between Jordynne grace and Steph de Lander to help defeat Kon and The Good Hands.
After dispatching the two, he turned back to De Lander. He threw her into the ring and Grace was waiting. Grace then finished her off in order to successfully defend the title.
The 36-year old finished his last Impact contract on September 2023. This ended a six-year stint that began in 2017. During his hiatus, Callihan wrestled 21 times on the independent circuit, including a match with actor Paul Walter Hauser, at this year’s WrestleCon superShow, as well as MLW dates.
TNA has not yet announced any formal signing.
Mike Santana, former AEW star and former TNA World Champion Matt Hardy, and former TNA World Champion Matt Hardy also made a return.

Only one championship match took place at Rebellion. It was the pre-show.
Laredo Kid defeated Crazzy Steve in a fight for the Digital Media Championship to win the gold, his first ever at the company.
Kid won after hitting a Spanish fly on the top rope, and he got the pin afterwards.
Steve’s 98-day winning streak is over. He had six successful defenses since January of this year.
In the four other defenses, TNA World Championship Moose successfully defended himself against Nic Nemeth. Knockouts champion Jordynne grace defended herself against Steph de Lander. X-Division champion Mustafa Ali defended himself against Jake Something. Knockouts tag team Champions Spitfire, Masha Slamovich & Jody Threat, defended themselves against Decay, Rosemary & Havok.

Shawne Merriman, a former NFL defensive star who is a wrestling fan, got physical with Joe Hendry during the Saturday show.
Merriman was watching the Hendry vs. Rich Swann fight when Swann’s teammate AJ Francis, who was about to hit Hendry in the face with a chain, approached. Merriman acted as if he were going to Hendry’s rescue, but instead he got into the ring to clothesline him. Swann won the match.
Merriman has made sporadic WWE performances over the years, but in a podcast interview with Renee Paquette from 2021 he said that the two sides were unable to reach a deal due to the issues surrounding his “Lights Out’ branding.
