WWE SmackDown to feature Cody Rhodes and AJ Styles signing contracts in todays Wrestling news
This episode is the first night of the 2024 WWE Draft.
Cody Rhodes will face AJ Styles for the first time next Friday since their title match was announced.
Next week’s SmackDown episode will feature a Rhodes-Styles signing of a contract. Styles will be facing off against Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at Backlash, in Lyon, France, on Saturday, 5th May. This will be Rhodes’ first defense of the WWE Universal Championship.
Styles became Rhodes’ Backlash opponent by defeating LA Knight on SmackDown in a match between the number one contenders.
Rhodes is currently competing in WWE’s UK house show tour. Styles was addressed in a promo that aired on SmackDown.
AJ Styles is the undisputed champion in his home country. Two Georgia boys battling it out in France for the first ever. AJ Styles is a wrestler with an unmatched reputation. Rhodes became the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion after he defeated Roman Reigns at WrestMania 40 Night Two.
Next Friday, SmackDown will be the first night of the 2024 WWE Draft. The episode will be broadcast from the Heritage Bank Center, Cincinnati, Ohio.
