Philadelphia hopes that after the success of WrestleMania, it won’t take long before it hosts WWE’s marquee show again.
Philadelphia Business Journal published a report this week stating that Philadelphia “plans petition to bring WrestleMania to the city” in the near future. Larry Needle, executive director of PHL Sports division at the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau said that the city would engage in these conversations with WWE as soon as the time was right.
Needle said: “This is a highly-coveted, much-anticipated event. We know that there are a lot of cities that want to host it. That’s the reality of a major event of this size.” “But it’s not necessary to say that we would love to see WrestleMania return, and we will engage with the WWE at the appropriate time.”
Philadelphia hosted its second WrestleMania. The first was WrestleMania 15, which took place in 1999.
WrestleMania was held at Lincoln Financial Field, with other venues in Philadelphia hosting WWE’s surrounding events.
The last WrestleMania in the Northeast took place in New Jersey at WrestleMania35.
