Kenny Omega’s response to CM Punk’s CM Punk: “There’s no problem between him and me” in todays Wrestling news
Omega discussed Brawl Out on a Twitch stream that took place Friday night.
Kenny Omega does not believe that there is any issue between him and CM Punk.
Omega discussed the Brawl-Out incident between The Elite from 2022 and Punk during a Twitch live stream on Friday. A fan asked Omega where things stand between Punk and him during the discussion.
Omega responded:
Status with Punk now? I don’t really know, but it’s mutual respect. We reached out to one another. Here’s the thing: I can’t think of anyone I dislike or with whom I have an issue, especially with wrestling. It’s not as if we were saying, “Hey, now we’re doing well.” It’s not like, ‘Hey, we’re good now. If it wasn’t for another factor, we could have had that talk the night of Brawl out. As far as I’m concerned, there is no problem between him and me. I don’t believe there is any issue.
I don’t wish to appear secretive or standoffish about what happened. Yes, there are legalities and other stuff, but I don’t like to reveal things that shouldn’t be in the public eye. It’s for this reason that I say, for whatever reason, if guys fight or do whatever, it’s not something the public should know. It’s for them to air their stuff and get it out of the system. That’s what I mean.
Omega said that he believed his duty in Brawl Out would be to enter the chaos, deescalate it and create a peaceful atmosphere. Omega said that he was only able create a peaceful atmosphere for Punk’s pet dog Larry.
Below is a clip from Omega’s Brawl out discussion. He said that he believes, in the right situation, fighting can create a positive working environment.
Omega stated that he is an EVP in AEW but has not had power for more than four years. Omega called himself a ‘terrible EVP.
“And I will tell you why. It’s because I am a terrible EVP.” Omega said, “I don’t deserve to become an EVP.” I will do my best to assist anyone who asks for my advice. I’ll do my best to put out a fire backstage.
Omega has been out-of-action since December 2023 due to diverticulitis.
The Punk-AEW story continued to unfold over the last two weeks after Punk’s appearance at The MMA Hour. In that interview, Punk claimed AEW was not a real company and Tony Khan was not a boss. Punk also discussed his All In 2023 altercation between Jack Perry and himself on The MMA Hour. AEW aired backstage footage of the Punk-Perry fight on Dynamite Wednesday.
Punk was fired from AEW after the incident with Perry in September 2023. Punk returned to WWE at Survivor Series in November.
