AEW & NJPW no longer plan to run their joint show at the stadium.

The Forbidden Door will not be held at Arthur Ashe Stadium

Andrew Zarian reported in his Beyond the Bell Podcast that AEW and NJPW’s annual Forbidden Doors event will not be held at the New York City stadium in June. Fightful reported that NJPW refused to share the costs of running the venue with AEW. Rocky Romero, on X, denied Fightful’s claim.

Zarian reported in February that AEW, NJPW, and the stadium were interested in holding their show there. AEW had previously booked the stadium for their Grand Slam events held in the fall. Forbidden Door was previously held in Chicago and Toronto.

Tony Khan announced last month that this year’s Forbidden Door will also feature talent from CMLL, Stardom and AEW, as AEW had strengthened ties with these promotions over the past several months. Last year, Bryan Danielson defeated Kazuchika Okada, while Darby Allin and Tetsuya Niito teamed up to defeat Chris Jericho and Sam Guevara.
