Cody Rhodes says he’ll “try my best” to bring back the winged eagle WWE championship in todays Wrestling news
Rhodes appeared Monday on The Pat McAfee Show.
Cody Rhodes promised fans that he would try to bring the winged eagle WWE Championship Belt back.
Rhodes has spoken in the past about his fondness for the design WWE used from February 1988 until March 1998. Rhodes said he would do everything possible to bring back the belt now that he is champion during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show.
Rhodes said:
I think it’s best to just say it. This (the current WWE belt) is the belt I won in the ring, so it has a special quality, and there’s equity that’s gone into it. I have a warm feel about it so I feel different about it today. I have changed titles in the past. I am not in control of anything, I’m no longer an EVP. I have no strokes other than the fact I’m the champ, but I think it would be nice to see a championship that I grew on.
The crowd began to chant the title of winged eagle.
Rhodes continued:
I’m not in control of anything. Triple H is in control of the situation, but you’re right, winged eagle.
Please don’t be mad at me if it doesn’t work out. I’ll try to do the same as I did last time. Thank you guys.
Rhodes teased that the belt design would return in the run-up to WrestleMania. In an appearance on The Bump, Rhodes called the return of the winged-eagle title “a pipedream” in February 2023.
