John Cena revealed in a Monday appearance on the Pat McAfee show what he said to Cody Rhodes following his WrestleMania victory.
Cena, The Undertaker Seth Rollins and Jey Uso were all involved in the main event on Sunday, helping Rhodes to repel interference from The Bloodline. The night ended when Rhodes defeated Roman Reigns and became the new Undisputed WWE Universal Champion.
Reigns’ 1316-day reign as champion ended with this match. Cena stated on The Pat McAfee Show that he believes Reigns to be the greatest of all-time, but Rhodes will now have the opportunity to prove his case.
Cena revealed that he spoke with Rhodes in the ring following Sunday’s match about the burden he carries as World Champion.
Rhodes’ story begins today. I told him last night in the ring – and I am sure he will be able relay this message – that when I got to hug him, he held the championship in his hand. I asked, “Do you feel it?” He replied, “Yes.” I asked, “Do you feel how heavy this is?” He replied, “Yes.” I replied, “It will become heavier every day.” You have to carry the weight of trying to create the path to be the greatest of all times. I hope that in a year, two years, or three years, we will all be able to sit here and say Cody Rhodes was the greatest performer of all time. Because that’s how it should be.
Bloodline Rules were the rules for Reigns and Rhodes. Cena told Pat McAfee, while speaking in character, that he got involved in the match to ensure that it was a fair fight.
Cena smashed Solo Sikoa, who interfered in the match, and then faced off with his old rival The Rock.
Cena said that Honda “bumped” an agreement he had made with them. He will be going straight to this commitment after his appearance on the Pat McAfee Show.
Cena must fulfill Hollywood commitments until “just before Christmas”. He hopes to be able to return to WWE after that for one final run.
