The local police are still investigating at this time.

The UFC heavyweight champ Jon Jones continues to be in the news for all the wrong reasons.

The official police report was released after a report from an Albuquerque news outlet confirmed that Jones assaulted a Drug Free Sport test at his home on March 30th. They were trying to get Jones at 4 PM to provide a drug sample.

Drug Free Sport has been chosen as the UFC anti-doping partner following last year’s messy split from USADA.

The tester, identified by Crystal Martinez, reported that Jones was cooperative initially, but her coworker appeared nervous upon returning from the bathroom after Jones had been unable to provide an urine sample.

The police offered to take a sample of blood instead, and Jones then “appeared agitated”, according to the report. He then announced that he would sue. He then allegedly took Martinez’s phone and began recording part of the discussion, which some police officers have seen.

After allegedly using threatening language, Martinez claimed Jones got in her face and asked why they had come so early to the house, adding, “Do you know what happens to those who come to my home… they die?”

Martinez wanted to stop the test, but feared Jones would assault her. Fighters can be punished for refusing a test. She was unable use her phone because Jones still had it.

He agreed to do the urine test on his patio. Martinez then returned her phone to her so that she could inform her boss of the situation. She also said she thought Jones was drunk because she smelled alcoholic. She said that her co-worker was having trouble sealing the sample because he was so nervous after the alleged incident.

Martinez filed an internal report after which she intended to file a report with the police, but her boss told her to “hold on until UFC representatives speak to her.” Her co-worker, who was not named, was also “afraid” of the repercussions of filing a report with the police.

Martinez said that her boss (Pierson-Laughlin) contacted her Thursday, April 4th and asked why she wanted to make a police report. She felt that he was trying talk her out of doing so.

On Friday, April 5, a summons was issued for Jones for accusations of assault and interfering with communications because he allegedly took the drug tester’s cellphone. Currently, no charges have been filed against the fighter.

Jones posted a video and statement on his Instagram account on Saturday where he said that the testers hugged each other and high-fived one another after the session, while admitting to being frustrated with the “unprofessionalism”.

The UFC has yet to comment on this matter. He is currently recovering after a torn muscle in his pectoral region that caused him to be pulled from the title defense last November against former champion Stipe Mirocic.

Jones has a long list of offenses and legal troubles. In December 2021, he reached a plea agreement following domestic violence charges stemming a Las Vegas incident in September 2021. A part of the deal was to “stay away from trouble.”
