The Boys’ statement on ROH release has not moved Tony Khan. in todays Wrestling news
Khan addressed The Boys during his post-Supercard of Honor press scrum.
Tony Khan is not “moved” by The Boys’ statement regarding their ROH release.
Khan was asked about The Boys (Brandon Tate and Brent Tate), who publicly commented on their release, during the post-ROH Supercard of Honor scrum of media early Saturday.
The Tates cited a misunderstanding with the AEW/ROH about their travel as the main reason they missed a performance, while Khan told media on Thursday that he had made the “tough decision” to release the performers for missing work multiple times.
Khan stands by his Thursday remarks
I haven’t seen their exact statement. As I was returning from the [Supercard] show, I heard a bit of it. I stand by my words, and I’ve only been the owner of ROH for 2 years.
ROH has a long and rich history. It was my decision to bring them back. I liked the presentation they did with Dalton [Castle] as well as them personally. I’ve had many good experiences with them and I would be willing to work with them again.
They have done some great things for us. I loved having them. We did the House Rules Tour… in the South. They’ve also been to many Saturdays in the past. I know this because I inherited the company.
I have confirmed that I have spoken about it. I think that there are two sides to the story. I appreciate your asking.
I know that yesterday they said to “stay tuned”, so I stayed on the alert, and then, I heard and I was not moved.
Thank you.
Khan spoke more generally about the multiple cuts AEW/ROH has made this week. He noted that he spent more money this year than he planned on free agents and producing, and cited this as a reason for the release. Then he circled back to The Boys.
I don’t agree with the statement that they haven’t made it to the show a few times in the history of ROH or working with us. I also disagree that I like them both.
I don’t care if we agree or disagree about this point of contention. I still think they were fantastic. They were an important part of Dalton’s act. I like both Tates.
I like everyone we released in the last batch of recent releases and I wish them all the best.
