Sami Zayn tries to dip his toes in outside WWE projects “a little bit” in todays Wrestling news
Zayn has hired an agent and manager for “outside WWE type stuff.”
Sami Zayn, in addition to competing with WWE, is also pursuing other projects outside the ring.
Zayn announced this week that he will be presenting a comedy in Los Angeles as part of the Netflix is a Joke Festival this year. The show, titled “Sami Zayn & Friends,” will take place on Saturday May 11.
Zayn revealed that he has hired a manager for non-WWE work and an agent to represent him.
Zayn explained that he had recently become a manager or agent for stuff outside WWE. “So, I’m trying to dip my feet into that world just a little.”
Zayn has always believed he was gifted at comedy and acting. In recent years, Zayn has been able show off his skills on WWE television.
I thought to myself, “Let’s see what is going on outside WWE TV.” Zayn stated that the company’s mentality towards talent who want to do outside work has changed in recent years, and for the better. “So we’ll see. It’s only talking about the outside opportunity, like Netflix is a joke stuff.”
Zayn isn’t sure if the show will only feature stand-up. He had the idea of making it a variety program with monologues, interviews, and sketches.
Zayn confessed, “To be honest I agreed to do the show without a show – I didn’t have one.”
Zayn’s Manager approached him about the concert, and Zayn agreed without having a plan for what he would do.
“Now I’m cooking all that stuff. Zayn said that it was exciting to be able to create something other than the usual angles, matches or whatever. “Having said that, I do still get very involved in the creative process [in WWE] when it comes to storytelling.”
Zayn will challenge Gunther to the Intercontinental title on Saturday night, during WrestleMania. Gunther was champion for over 650 days prior to WrestleMania. It’s the longest Intercontinental Title reign in WWE history.
