Cody Rhodes claims that nothing in his career would ever be as moving as the #WeWantCody campaign.
On Wednesday morning, Rhodes spoke to NBC News Now and ESPN First Take. He told NBC News Now he was dedicating both nights at WrestleMania for the fans, because if not for them he would not be on the card.
“Nothing I have ever done in my career will be as touching,” Rhodes remarked about the fans’ reactions to his apparent loss of his place in the WrestleMania Main Event. The Rock does not realize that they still love him. The Rock is the biggest movie star in the world. They didn’t want The Rock to get in the way of this year-long tale that we’ve all been a part of, and me trying capture a championship that my family has never held before. This WrestleMania is dedicated in the most significant way to the fans because without their genuine speaking up, I would not be in this position, who knows if even I would be on WrestleMania?”
Cody appeared on TODAY on Wednesday and discussed his mother’s reaction when The Rock referred to her as “Mama Rhodes”.
Rhodes says in the show, “You know you’ve gotten somewhere when the moms are involved.” “My mother told me she would bring her bear spray. I had to tell her that she couldn’t bring bear spray into the stadium.
“My mom was involved in wrestling, she married when my dad was at the height his fame within the industry, and she’s seen it all.” I don’t believe Rock knows this. I won’t be the one to tell Rock, my mother is usually asleep during the show.”
“She’s probably coming into WrestleMania Week in Philadelphia with everyone just wondering about what she’s gonna do and who knows?” She’s the best. She’s seen it everything. She’s perfect. Rock won’t be anywhere near her. “If I could say anything about The Rock’s mother, lovely lady.”
Rhodes told ESPN’s First Take Wednesday that if his story isn’t finished by Sunday, “he might as well move to commentary.”
