AEW wrestler Ortiz has begun his recovery after undergoing surgery to repair a torn rectus.
In an Instagram post from Tuesday, Ortiz revealed he had successfully undergone pec surgery. He wrote: “Pec Surgery was a Success!! “Queue up Rocky’s training montage!”
Ortiz talked about the injury in an episode of Isiah Kassidy’s weekend vlog.
Ortiz stated that “it was only from a clothesline.” “I tore my pec on a clothesline.”
When asked for an estimate of how long Ortiz would be out, he said that a four-month recovery period is expected.
Since teaming up with Eddie Kingston to lose against Bryan Danielson & Claudio Castagnoli at AEW Collision in January, Ortiz has not wrestled. He was scheduled to wrestle in Ethan Page’s Alpha-1 Wrestling at Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, in March. Ortiz was forced to appear as a special guest referee and commentator due to an injury.
Ortiz wrestled for AEW in January’s match on Collision for the first time since October 2023 when he lost his former tag-team partner Mike Santana to a no-DQ match.
Last month, it was confirmed that Santana had left AEW.
