The lawyer for Janel Grant claims that Grant was forced to write a “love-letter” to Vince McMahon at the end of 2021.
The New York Post published a Monday article containing a long email Grant sent to McMahon in December 2021. In it, she professed her love for the former executive chairman of WWE.
Ann Callis, Grant’s attorney, said that McMahon had instructed Grant to write the note which was obtained by WWE from Grant’s laptop in the course of its investigation into the allegations made against McMahon. It is expected that it will appear in future court filings, as Grant’s lawsuit against McMahon continues.
Callis told the Post that it was “disgusting” that Vince’s attempt to defend his horrendous behaviour — behavior that he claims never happened — was to show off letters that he himself forced her to write.
“His psychological torment of her continues – as is typical of predators who increase their threats when women speak out.” Janel is not a stranger of his intimidation tactics but this is a new low for him.
Callis noted that Grant’s letter was plagiarized in large parts. Grant wrote to McMahon that he felt “understood, accepted, and loved for who I am in my core.” You see my soul. You see my heart. You are one rare person” in the words taken verbatim directly from the 1947 movie “The Bishop’s Wife.” Another part of the letter is taken from an interview with Megan Fox & Machine Gun Kelly in 2021, conducted by GQ.
Jessica Taub Rosenberg, McMahon’s lawyer at Kasowitz Benson Torres, the same firm that represented MLW’s 2023 antitrust suit against WWE, claims that Grant wrote the email of his own free will.
“Nobody forced Ms. Grant into writing that letter.” She wrote it on her own. Rosenberg said that the fact that it is the 24th draft of the letter speaks volumes.
“Nowhere in the voluminous complaint that is filled with fabrications does she mention having been forced into such a behavior.” The language in the letter is consistent to other communications she had with Mr. McMahon during their consensual relation,” Rosenberg added.
Grant’s email from December 24, 2021 to Vince McMahon reads as follows:
We’re back at it again… draft 24… even harder to start after we shared our hearts with each other a couple of nights ago. In some ways, it makes me wonder what else I can say after such a beautiful night. Then I realize that there’s still so much to say to my bestie, my love, and everything.
Is there a way I can adequately describe how my life has changed since we met? How can I describe how you have filled a void that I thought I would never be able to fill?
