In a recent interview, Paul Heyman compared Roman Reigns with Bruno Sammartino and Steve Austin.
Heyman told Sports Illustrated Reigns could have fit in any era of wrestling history, because he is able to “read the room” and know his audience.
Heyman said:
Roman Reigns has been the most innovative, transformative and disruptive superstar in pro wrestling/sports entertainment history. Roman Reigns uses two key mantras in show business. This is why I can make this statement with accuracy. He reads the room. He knows his audience. He would fit in any era, whether it was the 70’s with Sammartino or the 80’s with Hulk Hogan or the 90’s during the Dangerous Alliance or the Attitude Era, against Stone Cold and The Rock and DX or the John Cena period of The Doctor of Thugonomics or the current tenure of Roman Reigns. Heyman served as executive producer and director for the upcoming A&E Biography about Reigns. The episode will air on Sunday, March 31, at 9 p.m. Eastern Time. In a statement posted on WWE.com, Reigns said that Heyman is the only person who can give his story “the justice” it deserves.
Heyman says that viewers will be able to see the collaborative process between him and Reigns.
He continued:
We have a lot of trust in each other. We can also each veto a particular idea if it doesn’t suit us. If he doesn’t like something, I will move on to another idea. If he doesn’t like something, he won’t assert himself. We come up with a different idea when that happens. We love creating together, and we both enjoy the creative process. We have mutual respect and appreciation for each other. It’s because of this that we can create so freely.

Heyman will be inducted into WWE Hall of Fame in Philadelphia on Friday, 5 April. The ceremony will immediately follow WWE SmackDown in Philadelphia at the Wells Fargo Center. The ceremony will be broadcast live on Peacock as well as the WWE Network.
