Philadelphia honors one of ECW’s greatest legends.
Sabu will be inducted to the Indie Wrestling Hall of Fame by Game Changer Wrestling on Sunday, April 7, 2019. The induction ceremony will be held in Philadelphia which was the hometown of ECW.
GCW hasn’t yet announced who will induct Sabu.
Sabu is inducted into the Indie Wrestling Hall of Fame along with The Briscoes, Steve Corino and Trent Acid. Kevin “Whack Packer”, a fan of indie wrestling, also made it to this year’s class.
Sabu, one of the most popular and recognizable hardcore wrestling stars of all time, is a former ECW World Champion and NWA World Heavyweight Champion. He was also a ECW Television Champion and ECW Tag Team Champion.
Sabu wrestled in WWE’s ECW revival from 2006-2007.
Sabu appeared for AEW in a few appearances and was the special guest enforcer at Double or Nothing 202023 for Adam Cole vs. Chris Jericho.
Sabu, 59, hasn’t wrestled in 2021. However, he has hinted at the possibility of a final match with his friend Rob Van Dam.
GCW and Orange Crush Magazine established the Indie Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2022. This year’s ceremony can be viewed live on YouTube starting at noon Eastern Time on April 7th. The ceremony will be held at the Sheraton Hotel in downtown Philadelphia.
