The TNA contracts of Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin expire in April in todays Wrestling news
Two men who were considered TNA Originals could be on their way out.
Early April marks the expiration of the contracts for former TNA World Champions Alex Shelley, and Chris Sabin.
PWInsider broke the news first on Friday, adding that while some TNA employees expect the Motor City Machine Guns duo to leave the company, others hope they can keep them both.
Shelley and KUSHIDA are both currently in the Time Machine faction, but they have teased a possible heel turn by Shelley because of a recent losing streak within the group.
This weekend, TNA will be taping two nights of TV in Philadelphia. Shelley will face Nic Nemeth and both Shelley & Sabin will challenge TNA Tag Team Champions The System.
The next TNA pay-per view event will be Rebellion on April 20th. There are no matches for that event announced yet, but they would most likely be announced this weekend if the two were to appear.
Both men are amongst the most decorated champions of TNA/Impact Wrestling’s history.
Shelley, 40, held the TNA World Title from June 2023 until this past January. He lost it to Moose. He is a three-time TNA Tag Team champion with Sabin. He also held the X-Division Title once. He made his TNA debut in 2004.
Sabin, 42, debuted in 2003, during the NWA-TNA era. He has held the TNA Tag Team title three times and the TNA World Title once, for a brief run in 2013.
Shelley has trademarked both the Motor City Machine Guns and MCMG names.
Sabin has not appeared in WWE, while Shelley competed in a match in a 2005 Sunday Night Heat episode and teamed up with KUSHIDA in three NXT events in January 2020. The two have only competed in AEW once, when they teamed with Jay Lethal to face FTR & Wardlow during 2022’s All Out.
Both are very active indies, as both a team and as singles wrestlers.
